What to Expect
An award of benefits can take from 3 months to several years, with an average of approximately 24 months.
Initial claims are denied 50-60% of the time. Subsequent appeals are denied 15-80% of the time depending on the level of appeal.
Besides the initial application, you may be required to complete various reports including a disability report, function report, medication list, work activity report and various appeals documents. Proper completion of these forms is critical and may affect the outcome of your case.
